The Code has been approved by the Spanish Data Protection Agency
- Companies such as Atresmedia (Antena 3), Dentsu, Ikea, L’Oreal, Másmóvil, Orange, Procter & Gamble, Telefónica or Vodafone have already adhered to the Code, which companies from any sector can adhere to. Full list of member companies
- From this moment on, the AEPD can refer to AUTOCONTROL, for processing through a mediation procedure, the claims it receives against member companies in matters covered by said Code. Its maximum duration will be 27 days, informing the Agency of the agreement reached.
- The Code launches a new voluntary and free mediation procedure for the citizen that will give a more agile response to consumer complaints about unwanted advertising.
Coinciding with the European Data Protection Day, the AUTOCONTROL Code of Conduct for “Data processing in advertising activity ” comes into operation, approved by the AEPD and which includes a path to more quickly resolve claims regarding data protection and publicity that citizens may raise. Companies such as Atresmedia (Antena 3), Dentsu, Ikea, L’Oreal, Másmóvil, Orange, Procter & Gamble, Telefónica or Vodafone have already joined.
The resolutions of the claims that use this channel will be binding for the companies voluntarily adhering to this Code of Conduct. In addition, from this moment on, the AEPD can refer to AUTOCONTROL, for processing through a mediation procedure, the claims it receives against member companies in matters covered by said Code. Its maximum duration will be 27 days, informing the Agency of the agreement reached.
The Code also includes the different voluntary tools that allow companies a proactive responsibility, through the use of the data protection advisory services offered by AUTOCONTROL ( Cookie Advice® , Data Advice® and Web Advice® Data Protection ) .
AUTOCONTROL’s data protection and privacy advisory activity has not stopped growing in the last two years. In 2022, the number of queries received at AUTOCONTROL regarding data protection has doubled , going from 2,558 queries resolved in 2021 to more than 5,000 last year . Likewise, during 2022 the Data Protection Mediation Unit for telecommunications operators has processed 430 mediation requests, in which agreements have been reached in more than 80% of the cases in less than a month .
