FCA launch the first phase of their new website

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have launched the first phase of their new website, after a year of planning and research. The site is complete except for the News and Publications sections, which will follow this August.

The new site:

  • focuses on users, giving everyone an improved journey
  • presents information in a clearer and better structured way
  • makes it easier to find, understand and complete regulatory tasks
  • works equally well on a desktop PC or a tablet/mobile

Feedback

In many ways the new site has been designed by users – through the FCA analytics tools they have looked at how users use the current site, and they have also run (and are still running!) a series of user-testing workshops – all this has given us a much better understanding of the type of information people want to see online.

Less is more

The FCA has streamlined the homepage and other important pages laying out key information in a more logical way – they’ve also used icons to link to our most frequently used systems.

Task-driven

The new main menu lists all the content you need in alphabetical order.

For firms it’s task orientated – information specific to your firm type and tasks for both regulated firms and those who are looking to become authorised.

For consumers there is information on how to protect themselves and report things like scams, unauthorised firms or misleading adverts, or how to claim compensation if a firm fails.

Financial markets

New section for markets – this highlights the latest markets policy, information from the UK Listing Authority, and again features latest news and useful resources.

Searching for…

If you prefer to search the site the FCA have made improvements so it is now predictive – refine results based on a section of the website, when it was published, the type of document, and the order the results to appear in. Also search by just news items or publications.
